Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a British-Nigerian mixed race child, was born to an ethnically diverse family from South London. Her father is Nigerian Swiss and her mother is English. She was raised on the South London Council Estate and went to The Brit School aged 14. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting certificate was earned. She appeared in many stage productions during her school days, including King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. The actress has been guest on Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe scored her first motion-picture role in the Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. Her success has led her to be cast in Elisha in a one-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot. She then appeared in the six-episode series Trexx & Flipside in the role of Ollie. In the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl was her first appearance in 2008 playing Bambi. Madekwe was the main character for How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedy that was released in 2008. Her stage credits include Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams as well as Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe made her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The series aired only two episodes at The CW, and was then ended. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. Madekwe had appeared in all episodes of the show's initial two seasons as a regular. However, in May of 2013, announcement was made that she would quit the show due to her guest appearance in the opening episode for its third season. In 2014 and 2016, she starred as Tituba the television series Salem. Then, in June of 2012 Madekwe got married to her long-time partner, actor Iddo Goldberg. Both of them have been in Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They have also appeared as partners in Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into the extended family of a huge, large. Her four older brothers were also present: twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's family, which is all sportsmen, played in the summer months and play hockey during winter. Ashley did not have the ability to actually walk. She danced. So when she was 2 and a 1/2 when she was a little older, she was a part of Baby Ballet. Ashley developed a passion for dancing after she started Baby Ballet. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions of tap, jazz hip hop, ballet Acrobatics, Lyrical Musical Theatre as well as pointe until the time she completed in high school. She was crowned the top soloist awards at all of the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
